U13 Green Team: Na Gaeil B’s 3-11; Laune Rangers B’s 1-5. 26th March 2023 County League Round 1. In ideal conditions in Killorglin, our Green team started their league campaign with a polished display.

Na Gaeil played with the breeze in the first half and made hay through points from the two Bens, O’Donovan and O’Sullivan. Nathan Anthony chipped in from midfield before the score of the day came from wing forward Paddy Hennessey.

Straight after scoring a point Paddy jinked his way through the defence before unleashing a pile driver to the top corner off his left boot. At the half we led 2-6 to no score. The second half was always going to be tougher and the hosts threw everything at their visitors.

Rory John O’Brien was winning his midfield battle and Ephrem Falvey was dominant at full back. Up front Ned Breen swept in the insurance goal, Jonathan Sheehy was unerring from play and Gearóid Lacey scored a peach from out on the right wing.

It’s always a great sign of a team effort when all the forwards get on the scoresheet. Our U11s who played all slotted in seamlessly and could be proud of their evenings work.

Team; Seán O’Connell; Seán Óg Murphy, Ephrem Falvey, Cian O’Donoghue; Dylan McCarthy, Conor Reidy, William Peevers; Rory John O’Brien, Nathan Anthony (0-2); Ben O’Donovan (0-1), Jonathan Sheehy (0-3), Paddy Hennessey (1-1); Gearóid Lacey (0-1), Ben O’Sullivan (1-3), Ned Breen (1-0).

U-13 White Team: Na Gaeil A’s 4-17; Laune Rangers A’s 1-5 26th March 2023 County League Round 1. With the Green teams performance pressure was on the White’s to complete the evenings football in Killorglin.

Despite a rocky start, they obliged. The hosts started much sharper and tacked over two fine points before the Na Gaeil boys settled.

Danny Brick and Joe Field began to win primary possession and feed the inside line where Aaron O’Donovan was prominent. Andy Costello and Tom Slattery got the scoreboard ticking over and some excellent football was being appreciated by a strong Na Gaeil travelling crowd.

The men in green got great joy from pinning Laune Rangers in their own defensive half with Eoin Hannon putting in a serious effort. At the back Jake Barrett and Philip Doyle got to grips with their markers and Dean O’Leary was giving an exhibition of corner-back play. At the break we led 2-8 to 0-3.

Na Gaeil continued in their groove in the second period putting some superb passages together. Birthday boy Seán O’Connell bagged a goal while Costello and Slattery kept the scoreboard moving.

Eoin Tansley was relishing been released up the field as Na Gaeil ran out deserving winners. Team; Ben O’Sullivan; Dean O’Leary, Éanna Leahy, Philip Doyle; Jake Barrett, Eoin Tansley, James Kelly; Andy Costello, Tom Slattery; Aaron O’Donovan, Danny Brick, Joe Field; Donagh O’Connell, Eoin Hannon, Nathan Anthony; Rory John O’Brien, Seán O’Connell. Both teams play John Mitchels away next weekend in Round 2. Well done to all the lads who played and to the parents who travelled to support. Training continues Tuesday and Thursday evening.
