U9 Boys: Over 30 Under 9’s had a good training session yesterday before their 2nd game of the season, hosting Ballymac this Tuesday. Really enjoying the extra space of the pitch.

U11 Boys: Well done to our under 11 boys who hosted Kerins O’Rahillys on Thursday evening in Na Gaeil. The boys showed great skill and determination to ensure two fantastic games of football. Well done boys. Then our lads had a great session in the sun yesterday morning. We started the session with some running following by some dynamic drills before ending the session with an exciting game. We look forward to our next game away this Thursday to Spa, Killarney.

U13 Boys (White Team): Na Gaeil 2-10 Austin Stacks 1-9. Congrats to our U13 White team who won the County League Division 1 Phase 1 with a hard-fought win over town rivals Austin Stacks in Killeen yesterday. Knowing that our visitors were unbeaten in Division 1, the opening exchanges were tough, with both teams showing a standard of football that will keep Kerry development squads well stocked.

Na Gaeil played against the breeze in the first period scoring through Andy Costello, however our visitors looked dangerous on the counter-attack. Kick passing was of a high quality from both teams and we went into the break a goal to the good. Ben O’Sullivan in goals pulled off a couple of self-proclaimed “worldies”, Rory John O’Brien, Éanna Leahy& Dean O’Leary were teak tough in the full back line and in a game that was turning into a tactical battle Jake Barrett, Philip Doyle and James Kelly covered a mountain of ground in the half back line. At half time the hosts led 2-4 to 1-4. The second half started with the boys from the Rock dominating possession and squeezing the boys in green back into their own half. Fresh from his appearance at half time in the Kerry v Tipperary game, Tom Slattery began to show his class. The basics of being someone to wear the green and gold; blocking, kicking, bravery; he was fantastic. Eoin Hannon and Danny Brick were massive outlets in the half forward line, while Nathan Anthony and Costello were revelling in the space that Stacks had to leave in search of the win. When the game was in the melting pot, Aaron O’Donovan scored a peach from the outside of the right.

Joe Field covered every blade of a pristine pitch and Donagh O’Connell worked like a Trojan when introduced. Well done to all involved and well done to Austin Stacks on their performance, we have no doubt that the future is strong for Tralee football. Team: Ben O’Sullivan; Dean O’Leary, Éanna Leahy, Rory John O’Brien, Jake Barrett, Philip Doyle, James Kelly, Tom Slattery, Eoin Tansley, Aaron O’Donovan, Danny Brick, Eoin Hannon, Nathan Anthony, Andy Costello, Joe Field, Donagh O’Connell, Seán O’Connell, Jayden Chalke, Conor Reidy.

U13 Boys (Green Team): Na Gaeil ‘B’ 4-5 Austin Stacks ‘B’ 3-7. The sizable crowd that gathered in Killeen were treated to a fantastic game of football from thirty plus dedicated men. Goals were the order of the day from both teams, but the finishing ability of Kieran Feely stood out.

Twice, from wing forward he ghosted in behind the Stacks full back line in the first half and finished beautifully, both to the postage stamp. The visitors were causing problems for the hosts in the opening period but Seán Óg Murphy and Daragh Sheehan held firm. Ephrem Falvey and Jude Hogan swopped positions and flourished. Jayden Chalke played a captain’s role throughout, helped by his midfield partner Conor Reidy.

When the game was up for grabs Paddy Hennessy’s work rate inspired the home team, with Eoin O’Connor and Chalke refusing to yield. Ned Breen did a super job covering a multitude of positions!

Up front, Jonathan Sheehy clipped two lovely points from centre-forward. Adam Fitzgerald battled through an injury scare, assisting the impressive Ben O’Sullivan at full forward. William Scanlon was always a threat in the inside line and capped a fine performance with a trademark boomer off his right.

Seán O’Connell was assured as always in goals and coupled a fine performance with unerring kick outs with two point-blank saves to ensure the win. Vinny Hannon and Ben O’Donovan both came on and showed that the future is bright! We finish our campaign with a home game to Killarney Legion on Thursday evening. Team; Seán O’Connell, Sean Óg Murphy, Jude Hogan, Daragh Sheehan, Adam Fitzgerald, Ephrem Falvey, Eoin O’Connor,Jayden Chalke, Conor Reidy, Kieran Feely, Jonathan Sheehy, Paddy Hennessey, William Scanlon, Ben O’Sullivan, Ned Breen, Ben O’Donovan, Vinny Hannon.

U15A Boys: Our U15A team travelled back to Killorglin last Wednesday to play Laune Rangers in Division 1 Co. League. It was the home team that got the better start and went into a 5 point lead after 8 minutes.

Our boys responded well and came back to 0-5 to 0-4. A ball put into the square by Laune Rangers somehow found its way dribbling over the line to give them a goal. It was a tough one for the lads as they worked so hard to get back into it.

The home side then had a purple patch of 8 mins where they scored 2-5 making it 3-10 to 0-4 but the lads battled on and at halftime it was 3-12 to 1-05. In the second half our lads came out fighting and raised the tempo hugely and we got some great scores but on the night it was the home side that proved just too strong.

Final score was 3-27 to 3-06. Thanks to Laune Rangers for a sporting game and well done to our own lads who showed great character and resilience by never giving up.

U15B Boys: U15B County League. Na Gaeil welcomed Dr. Crokes to our home ground on Wednesday 19th April. We had limited numbers on the night and thanks to 5 of the U13 squad who played with us for this game.

Crokes got off to a fast start and scored 3 rapid goals and continued to put us under pressure in the first half scoring some long range points and adding to their advantage. In the second half Na Gaeil settled more into the game and were unlucky with a few goal chances. It was a far better performance from all players. On the night Crokes were the stronger team and it finished 5-15 to 1-2.

U17 Boys: Last Monday our minors travelled to Churchill to play them in the Division 4 County League semi-final. The first half was very evenly contested. Na Gaeil led by 2 points after 12 minutes.

Then the sides were level approaching halftime but Churchill added 3 points in a row in injury time to take a 3 point lead into halftime. With the aid of the slight breeze Na Gaeil were level mid-way through the second half.

However Churchill quickly added 1-1 to their total to lead by 4 with 13 minutes remaining. But then our boys really got going and blitzed Churchill with an unanswered 1 goal and 4 points to book their place in the final tomorrow (Tuesday 25th) in Austin Stack Park at 5.45pm.

Their opponents will be Cordal/Scartaglen. Please come along and support the lads. They have had a great league campaign so far and it would be a huge achievenment for them if they were to win the final.

Senior Mens Co. League: Round 4 of the League saw our senior team travel to play Laune Rangers yesterday. It was the home team who dominated the first quarter, scoring 6 unanswered points.

But eventually Na Gaeil got going and responded with 6 of their own without reply with Kieran & Seán O’Connor particularly prominent during this spell. The sides were level at halftime but it was Laune Rangers who took the lead again early in the second half with 2 points from play.

Two Devon Burns frees got us level again and he followed this soon afterward with a super block that prevented a Launge Rangers goal. A great point from Tomás Ó hAiniféin put us ahead for a brief moment before Laune Rangers scored 4 points on the trot. With 5 minutes remaining Na Gaeil needed a goal. Jack Sheehan ran at the Laune Rangers defence and delivered a great pass to the in-rushing James O’Connor who finished it to the net.

Unfortunately though it was Laune Rangers who finished the game stronger adding 4 unanswered points as our Na Gaeil lads tired. Dara Devine did add a consolation free just on the stroke of full time.

Final score: Laune Rangers 0-16, Na Gaeil 1-10. Team: Devon Burns, Ruairi O’Sullivan, Niall O’Mahony,Jimi O’Suilleabháin, Fergal Barry, Damien Bourke, Kieran O’Donovan (VC), James O’Connor, Tomás Ó hAiniféin, Sean O’Connor, Kieran O’Connor, Kian Sheehan, Andrew Barry (C), Dara Devine, Jack Sheehan.
