Na Gaeil Crest 1Seniors

Na Gaeil hosted Annascaul in the quarter final of the Junior Premier Championship in Killeen on Saturday evening.

Conditions were perfect for football and both teams served up a very entertaining game. Na Gaeil had a very nervous opening ten minutes and conceded a penalty early on.

Annascaul failed to hit the net and this seemed to propel Na Gaeil forward. A long ball in from Jack Barry was beautifully fielded by Jamie Lowham and he cooly dispatched it to the net.

Na Gaeil were in total control for most of the half and got some great scores including a goal from Darragh Carmody which was engineered by Jamie Lowham. At this stage na Gaeil were 8 points up. But Annascaul came storming back. James Crean scored a goal and they tagged on three more points to leave 2 between the sides at the break. Na Gaeil 2-6; Annascaul 1-7.

The second half was a very exciting affair and a very even contest all through. Annascaul started brightly and had an early goal through Jason Hickson. But Na Gaeil stuck to their task manfully and never allowed Annascaul to get in front. They had a 2 point cushion for most of the game and eventually won by 4. Final score: Na Gaeil 2-12:  Annascaul 2-8.

This was a great victory for Na Gaeil on home turf with the whole team playing well as a unit. There were great displays from Eoin O Neill, Jack Barry, Dave Culloty, Jamie Lowham and Darragh Carmody.

Na Gaeil: Timmy Culloty, Darragh Sheehy, Kieran Dineen, Paul Daly, Eoin O Neill (0-1), David Culloty (0-1), Andrew Barry, Jack Barry (0-1), Dan O Connor (0-1), Ian McCarthy (0-1), Shane Carey, Kieran Donovan, Mike Griffin (0-1), Jamie Lowham (1-0), Darragh Carmodt (1-5).
