Na Gaeil Crest 1Seniors   Na Gaeil played Renard in Round 4 of the County League in Killeen on Sunday in glorious sunshine. Renard were first out of the blocks and were two points up after 5 minutes with scores from Eoin O Neill and Liam O Sullivan. Na Gaeil began to settle and put the next three scores on the board with points from Darragh Carmody (free), Jack Barry and Dylan Seymour. Eoin McCrohan scored a great goal for Renard in the 10th minute and the same player quickly followed up with a point to leave the score Na Gaeil: 0-3; Renard: 1-3; after 13 minutes. Darragh Carmody had three pointed frees for Na Gaeil followed by points from Dan O Connor and Mike Griffin. Na Gaeil were now two points up heading for the short whistle. But they were hit for another goal from Renard’s Conor O Leary on the stroke of half time giving a 1 point advantage to Renard at the break. Half time score Renard : 2-3; Na Gaeil: 0-8.

Eoin Walsh opened the scoring for Na Gaeil on the resumption with a fine point. This was cancelled out by a Liam O Sullivan free for Renard. Na Gaeil began to take control at this stage and scored the next 5 points without reply, the scores coming from Mike Griffin (0-2), Darragh Carmody, Eoin Walsh and Diarmaid Herlihy. Liam O Sullivan had 2 pointed frees for Renard to leave the score Na Gaeil: 0-14; Renard: 2-6 after 16 minutes. It was still all to play for with only 2 points between the sides. Diarmaid Herlihy had another point for Na Gaeil followed by further points from Darragh Carmody and Mike Griffin.

Mike Griffin goaled for Na Gaeil on 26 minutes and this ended the game as a contest. Na Gaeil substitute Jordan Murphy scored 2 further goals for Na Gaeil in the last 3 minutes followed by a point from substitute Paul Nolan. Final score; Na Gaeil: 3-18; Renard: 2-6. The final score is somewhat flattering for Na Gaeil. It was a tough battle all through with Na Gaeil only pulling away from their opponents in the last 10 minutes.

Eoghain Sheehy, Eoin Walsh, Dylan Seymour and Ian McCarthy impressed for Na Gaeil on the day.

Round 5 Na Gaeil play Churchill at home in Round 5 of the County League this Saturday June 11that 7.00pm. All support welcome.

U 14   Na Gaeil are playing Churchill in The St Brendan’s League final Bank Holiday Monday at7.30pm in Blennerville. This is our first game since the County League final and we are hoping for plenty of support on to encourage and cheer on Na Gaeil.

The St. Brendan’s U 14 team lost out on the Kerry County Championship (plate) final to Kenmare District on Wednesday last in Beaufort played in very hot conditions. This panel have been working together over the past 3 weeks and did a great job on reaching the final to a very strong and determined Kenmare outfit. Congratulations to Kenmare and a great experience for the Brendan’s team. Na Gaeil had no fewer than ten players involved and all got valuable playing time at this higher level: Mathew Burke, Jack Bourke, Jack Sheehan, Tomás Hannifin, Jimmy O Sullivan, Tom Walsh, Cian Devine, Osín Mansuall, Devon Burns and Enda O Connor who was a fantastic captain for the team.

There is a table quiz next Friday night in the clubhouse to help fund the upcoming Féile competition. We hope to present the Féile gear to the panel on the night. There will be more details available during the week. Thanks to everybody who organised and supported the Na Gaeil’s Got Talent show last weekend. It was an excellent show and highlighted the talent we have within the club.

U 12   Thanks to all the players who showed great heart and spirit last week in Knocknagoshel. We look forward to our final County League game on Sunday at home to Austin Stacks. Throw in 6pm.

Training continues Thursday 6.30.

U 8   Training was cancelled on Sunday last due to unavailability of coaches.

U 6   Last Thursday night’s training session was fun all the way! Even the onlooking parents didn’t escape involvement! Sunday’s session concentrated on the skills of catching, bouncing and passing! Two separate matches at the end ensured quality ball time for all! Well done!

Exams   Best wishes to everybody that is sitting Junior and Leaving Certificate exams this week. We hope all goes well for you.

Na Gaeil Cycling Club   Na Gaeil Cycling Club are now up and running with their full summer schedule: Monday and Wednesday nights at 6.15pm and Saturday mornings at 9am.ALL ARE WELCOME, high vis essential

Fir na Gaeil   Light Football Training for Men who have retired from playing football and for those that have not played and would like to try it out. Very little skill is required. We train on Monday andFriday nights from 7.30 to 8.30pm. This is a great way to keep fit with light training, ball games and a bit of a laugh. Mná Na Gaeil , We are a Gaelic for Mothers and Others team who come together and do a bit of exercise, football training and socialising. Anyone who would like to join are most welcome, No skills are required, just a good attitude and a sense for fun. We are out in the field on Wednesday nights and Saturday evenings. Lotto   The draw for the jackpot of €3,700 took place on Tuesday evening last. Numbers drawn were 2, 23, 24, 27. There was no winner.  €50 winners were Charlie & Mary Hartnett, Meadowlands and Ailbhe Ní Dhálaigh, Chestnut Drive.  €25 winners were Aisling Murphy, Newbridge, Margaret Crean, Racecourse Lawn, Martin Costello c/o Na Gaeil and Ian O Kelly, Currovough. Next week’s lotto is worth €3,800 .All welcome for draw in club, each Tuesday at 10.30pm.

Bingo    Bingo is on every Monday night at 8.30pm sharp. We have prize money of over €1,000 guaranteed every week with a mini jackpot that increases fortnightly when not won.  A door prize and a half-time raffle with lovely prizes will also take place every week. .  A bus service is available at 087 2817577.  You can ring this number for pick up and drop off.  100% of the funds raised go back directly into the club.   The bingo is run on a total voluntary basis and a huge thank you to all the parents who offer their time to run this vital fundraiser for the club.  If anyone wants to donate a spot prize for our weekly bingo raffle, please leave it at the club house and mark it “Bingo”.   Thanks to all our patrons who support this event on a weekly basis.

Cards: A card game is held every Wednesday night in the clubhouse. This is a very sociable occasion where you meet your friends for a great night’s entertainment and relaxation.  Everyone from novice to senior will enjoy a relaxing game of 45.
