U 14   Na Gaeil U14’s won their second title of the season with a hard fought victory against Churchill last Monday evening in Blennerville. Na Gaeil made a bright start and went into the lead with two early points.

They didn’t take advantage of their early dominance and Churchill soon replied with three unanswered points to open a one point lead, however Na Gaeil immediately replied with their third point to level the match.

Both teams missed good scoring changes in the second quarter but Na Gaeil finished the half stronger and scored another four points to leave the half time score Na Gaeil 0-7, Churchill 0-3.

Churchill started the second half in a determined fashion and scored an early goal to leave one point between the teams.

However Na Gaeil didn’t allow Churchill to build on their early score and replied with the four points to open a five point lead. Churchill got the next two scores to leave three points between the teams after fifteen minutes of the second half.

As the game entered the final quarter, Na Gaeil began to dominate possession and scored another three points to extend their lead. They then got a goal to finally kill off the Churchill challenge.

As the game entered the final minutes Na Gaeil scored another goal and a point while Churchill replied with two points to leave the final score Na Gaeil 2-15, Churchill 1-7.

This was a hard fought victory and the final score line didn’t reflect the game. Na Gaeil finished the game strongly and deserved victory on the night. They can look forward in confidence to the Central Region and Feile competitions.
