Na Gaeil

Minors   Na Gaeil Minors next game in the Central Region Division 1 League is away to Kerins O Rahillys on August 18th. Congratulations to the St. Brendan’s Minor Team on reaching the semi-final of the Minor County Championship with a 10 point win over Feale Rangers last Tuesday evening in Killeen.

Na Gaeil had no fewer than nine players togged out on the night and all contributed including joint captain Stefan. It is no surprise that all these Na Gaeil players can compete with the best in the county at this level as they come off an excellent Division Two County League undefeated winning season and currently have no fewer than three players on the Kerry Minor panel competing in the All Ireland semi final against Kildare later this month. Keep up the good work lads.

U 6   The boys and girls were divided into small groups this week and got plenty of time on the ball. Coaches spent quality time teaching the players how to pass to each other and how to move around the field to help their team. Good session everyone!

Kerry Juniors   Congratulations to the Kerry Junior team and all their mentors on a great victory over Mayo in the All Ireland Final played in Croke Park on Saturday last. Well done to Na Gaeil player Andrew Barry who played a starring role at centre half back. Andrew has now won three All Ireland medals in the last three years: two at minor level and one at junior level. He has played the full 60 minutes in all three finals in Croke Park wearing the no. 6 jersey. What an amazing achievement!

Na Gaeil Ladies   Na Gaeil Ladies U20 Blitz v John Mitchels

We played John Mitchels in the 1st game in Ballyseedy on Tuesday evening. Mitchels scored an early goal but we came back strong with a point from Mairin. This was followed by a goal from Jadyn and a point from Meagan. Mitchels scored another goal before halftime. With Eimear, Martina and Erika defending tightly in the backs, we didnt concede in the 2nd half and with more scores from Meagan, Jadyn, Caoimhe and Blaithnaid, we finished the game strongly.

Na Gaeil Ladies U20 Blitz v Laune Rangers.

We started much brighter against Rangers with Nora and Erika scoring early goals followed by 2 points from Nora and a goal from Jadyn. Laune Rangers rallied just before half time scoring a couple of goals. The girls tightened up in the backs with Martina and Mairin breaking down Rangers forward play and with a point from Meagan and a goal apiece from Erika and Caoimhe, we finished the blitz unbeaten.

Team; Erika O Sullivan, Caoimhe Hanafin, Eimear Nolan, Mairin Maher, Martina O Connor, Nora O Connell, Jadyn Lucey, Blaithnaid O Connor Meagan Sheehy.

Na Gaeil Ladies v Beaufort, County League Div 1

We were away to a strong Beaufort side on Monday night.  We started brightly with Jadyn scoring a point after a fine pass from Meagan. Beaufort came back at us strongly and despite Susan and Sheila defending tightly and Laura making a few good saves, we were struggling to contain the runners in the 1st half. We made a few changes at half time with Jadyn, Aine and Martina in the half back line. Beaufort were quick but with Nora and Kate Anne started to win their battle in midfield. Erika, Meagan and Mairin were making it tough for Beaufort’s half back line and with Caoimhe, Eimear and Blaithnaid were making good runs. We were coming back into the game, working hard and winning the dirty ball but a decision by the referee when we were on top broke our momentum. We struggled to get our play going again. It was a great 2nd half performance in very tough conditions with scores from Kate Anne, Meagan , Jadyn, Erika, Aine and Nora .

Team; Laura Fitzgerald , Susan Fernane, Sheila O Riordan, Erika O Sullivan, Aine Kelliher, Martina O Connor, Mairin Maher, Nora O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Jadyn Lucey, Caoimhe Hanafin, Eimear Nolan, Blaithnaid O Connor, Kate Anne O Connor.
