Seniors   Na Gaeil play Listowel Emmets this Sunday in the County Junior semi final in Austin Stack Park, Tralee at 1.45pm. It promises to be a great game so come out and support tht team this Sunday.

Congratulations to Diarmuid O’Connor, Stefan Okunbor and Ryan O’Neill of Na Gaeil who were part of the Kerry Minor Team that won the All Ireland Final in Croke Park on Sunday.

Diarmuid had a great game at no. 12 and scored a fantastic goal 11 minutes in to really settle the team.  It was great to see Stefan come on as a sub late in the game. We are very proud of these three great players in the club and hopefully they will drop in with the Tommy Markham Cup sometime soon. Well done to their trainer and mentors and all involved with the team.

U 16    Na Gaeil 0-17 Austin Stacks 1-9
U16 boys had a great win over our neighbours in a Div 1 town league on Thu night last.

The game was played in ideal conditions and we got off to an early lead with three unanswered points. Stacks got on the score sheet and the game was evenly poised all through until the last ten minutes when we pulled away and deservedly won by 5 points.  was a fantastic team display and no one player can be singled out as each player won the individual battles.

All the time put into training really paid off and all boys can be proud of their performance.

Na Gaeil Ladies   Na Gaeil Ladies v Beale/Ballyduff, U15 County Championship.
We played the 1st round in the U15 County Championship in Ballybunion on Tuesday evening against Beale/Ballyduff. We got off to a great start after Brid found the back of the net with our 1st attack.

Ciara and Muire were running the wings making space in the centre for Caragh to score a few early points. We followed up with a couple of points from Mary before Dearbhla made a great run forward and scored a goal. We were in full attack mode with more points from Caragh, Mary, Emily and Brid. Muire came on and scored 1.01. Sophie,  Ria, Megan and Isabelle were solid in the backs with Aine having a great game in goals. Dearbhla, Sarah and Freya supported Mary and Clodagh at every chance.

Eimear came into the forwards and scored 1.01 with Kayleigh and Ailbhe having a couple of chances as well. Dearbhla finished the game with a late goal and a point for a very convincing win where we dominated possession from the very start. Ballymac await us in the next round.

Na Gaeil Ladies v Austin Stacks, North Kerry Div 1, Tralee Town League Final.
We doubled up this game North Kerry League round and Town League final. We were missing a few players with Abi sick and Dearbhla injured. Stacks started brightly scoring 2 early points. Meagan replied with 2 points, Erika and Muire got a point each.

Aimee, Ria and Megan stood strong for the rest of the 1st half and let no more scores past them and Mary kept Stacks danger player Molly O’ Carroll very quiet. With Aine in goals, her long kickouts found Sarah and Freya who were able to get the ball forward fast. Caragh was finding space and set up Clodagh McHugh for her 2 points.

Meagan got another 3 points after some fine play from Jadyn and Clodagh O’ Connor. Sibeal finished off the 1st half with 2 points with a half time score of 0.11 to 0.02. Stacks came at us early in the 2nd half scoring 1-01. Ciara scored a point followed by a point goal and a point from Meagan. Stacks scored another goal.

They were really coming back at us but Aine made a great save at her near post to stop them scoring another goal. Isabelle and Eimear came into the backs to tighten up the defence. Mary and Sarah took control of every ball that came in and with Jadyn fighting for every ball in midfield and winning most of them.

Jadyn found Erika with a long ball pass, Emily and Brid created space in the forward line to allow Erika to make her run forward and found the bottom corner of the net to finish the game off. Final Score 2.14 to 3.03. It was a great game of football with a huge vocal support from the sidelines. Well done to all our players on a great well deserved win over our neighbours.

U 14 Ladies   The girls are having a busy time at the moment between the North Kerry U14 league, the County U15 championship and some of the girls involved in the 16’s competitions.

Anyway, we are getting through the games with our most recent outing a home game in the U14’s V Currow.  Unfortunately Currow only have 11 players which led to a lot of substitutions on our side so that all the girls got a fair share of game time.

We were too strong for Currow and dominated in all areas.  It would be unfair to single out any individual as all the girls excelled.  It is noticeable each player’s improvement as the season goes on.

The final score in the game was: Na Gaeil 3-9 Currow 0-1.  Well done to Caragh O’Neill who captained on the day – in honour of her brother Ryan who was on the victorious Kerry minor panel. We have now won two out of two matches in North Kerry and have three matches remaining – Beale/Ballyduff (H), Castlegregory (A) and Finuge/St.Senan’s (H).

Well done to all the girls for their dedication and enthusiasm. They are a great bunch to work with.
