Seniors    Na Gaeil played Churchill in Round 2 of the St. Brendan’s League in windswept Churchill on Sunday.

The first half was a very evenly contested affair with both teams playing very open football. Only a point separated the teams at half time on a scoreline of Na Gaeil 0-06; Churchil 0-05.Darragh Carmody scored two frees in the first half and put over one from play.

Two more came from the boot of Ian McCarthy and one from Mike Griffin.

Churchill scored the first point of the 2nd half to level matters. Darragh Carmody and Mike Griffin scored one apiece to put Na Gaeil two up.

Churchill upped their game and scored the next five points to go three in front. Na Gaeil fought back and scored four great points through Darragh Carmody, Ian McCarthy, Dan O’Connor and Jack Carmody to regain the lead by one point.

Churchill were awarded a close in free which Cillian Fitzgerald blasted to the net. They tagged on one more point to win by a goal at the finish. Final score: Na Gaeil 0-12; Churchill 1-12.

U12     Our U12s continued their training on Sunday last on the astro turf at the Sports Complex Tralee at 11am. Next Sunday we will train at the same time, same venue, see you all there!! Bring water and €2.A big thanks to Tim Culloty our senior stalwart goalkeeper for assisting in the training session. Please ensure you return club registration form next week.

U10 Boys    Our boys continued their training last Sunday outdoors on the astro-turf in Tralee Sports Complex. Thanks to Timmy Culloty from the senior team who helped out with the training session. See you all again next Sunday at 11am. Weather permitting we will train outdoors again on the astro-turf pitch so please make sure you bring warm clothes and gloves. Please be sure to bring your mouth guard and €2 to cover costs. New members are always welcome at na Gaeil so if you’d like to try your hand at GAA come along and give it a go.

U6    The boys and girls were very active on Sunday last as they made the most of having the complex hall all to themselves. Thanks to all the parents who got involved in the session making it as usual great fun for our rising football stars!

Na Gaeil Ladies    Na Gaeil Senior Ladies have their 1st competition of the year as we are entered into the Paidí O Sé Tournament on Saturday the 18th of February. We are in the Intermediate Group and our 1st game is against Naomh Abán, Baile Bhuirne at 11.00am. Our 2nd game is against Gomna from Cavan at 12.30pm. Finals are to be played at 4.15pm.

U8 & U10 Girls    The girls enjoyed a good hour of skills, fun, games and some football at training in Tralee Sports Complex last Sunday. The boys have moved outdoors so there was more space for the growing numbers attending. New members are always welcome so tell your friends. Thanks to U14 Kerry player Sarah Barrett and Seamus from the senior team for helping with the coaching. Registration will take place before training at 11 next Sunday. It is important that the girls wear mouth guards and bring water to training.

Registration for U6, U8 & U10’s will take place after training in Tralee Sports Complex again on this coming Sunday February 19th. Training is going very well with these groups and there are large numbers attending. The coaches are very dedicated and excellent in imparting the basic skills of the game to all these aspiring young players. They do so in a fun and enjoyable way so that the kids get the maximum out of each coaching session.

Scór Sinsear    Best of luck to David Culloty, Sorcha Ní Shúilleabháin, Jim Adams, Kate Sheehy, Cian Quirke/Eoghain Sheehy, Diarmaid Herlihy, Niall O’Mahony and Seán O’Donoghue who are the cast members of the Na Gaeil Léiriú and are performing in the County Final in Scoil Mhuire Gan Smál, Castleisland this Saturday, February 18th at 8pm.

Na Gaeil Celebration Night   Na Gaeil Celebration Night will take place in The Meadowlands Hotel on Saturday March 4th with music by Heart and Soul.

Well done to Jack Barry who started at midfield for Kerry in Round Two of the Allianz Football National against Mayo in Austin Stack Park on Saturday evening. Jack made his presence felt from the very start cutting through the Mayo defence and firing over a great point in the first minute of the game to open the scoring for Kerry.

He repeated this fifteen minutes later and scored another point.  A very impressive performance from the Na Gaeil man.

Health and Wellbeing Meeting    An important meeting for Club/District Committee Health and Wellbeing Officers will be held on Friday week, the 17th February, in The Pavilion, Austin Stack Park, Tralee starting at 8pm sharp. All Club members or parents with an interest in this area are also invited to attend.

Na Gaeil Cycling Club   Na Gaeil Cycling Club is now up and running with its winter schedule:  Saturday mornings at 10am from the clubhouse. ALL ARE WELCOME, high vis essential.

Na Gaeil Annual Cycle     Na Gaeil Annual Cycle will take place this year on Saturday April 22nd.

Fir na Gaeil   Light Football Training for Men who have retired from playing football and for those that have not played and would like to try it out. Very little skill is required. We train on Monday.

This is a great way to keep fit with light training, ball games and a bit of a laugh. Contact Eddie at 0876791460 for more info indoor Core Training from 7.00 to 8.00 in the gym and Friday nights from 7.30 to 8.30pm in the I.T.

Mná Na Gaeil    We are a Gaelic for Mothers and Others team who come together and do a bit of exercise, football training and socialising. Anyone who would like to join are most welcome, No skills are required, just a good attitude and a sense for fun.

We are now doing indoor Core work for the winter on Wednesdays and Sundays.  Contact Eddie at 0876791460 for more info.

Lotto   The draw for the jackpot of €7,300 took place on Tuesday evening last. Numbers drawn were 4, 5, 18, 20. There was no winner.  €50 winners were Shirley Morris C/O Na Gaeil and Pat Boyle, Rahoonane. €25 winners were Tony Lyons, Oakpark, Breda Browne, Cloonanorig, Pat O’Connor, Derrylea and Terry O’Sullivan, Leith West. Next week’s lotto is worth €7,400. All are welcome for the draw in the club each Tuesday night at 10.30pm.

Bingo    Bingo is on every Monday night at 8.30pm sharp. We have prize money of over €1,000 guaranteed every week with a mini jackpot that increases fortnightly when not won.  A door prize and a half-time raffle with lovely prizes will also take place every week. .  A bus service is available at 087 2817577.

You can ring this number for pick up and drop off.  100% of the funds raised go back directly into the club. The bingo is run on a total voluntary basis and a huge thank you to all the parents who offer their time to run this vital fundraiser for the club.

Cards   A card game is held every Wednesday night in the clubhouse. This is a very sociable occasion where you meet your friends for a great night’s entertainment and relaxation.  Everyone from novice to senior will enjoy a relaxing game of 45.
