MNA NA GAEIL

Na Gaeil v Beaufort in aid of Crumlin Hospital. We played  Beaufort ladies on Sunday in Beaufort in aid of Crumlin Hospital. This was another good cause and we had a great turnout despite having a few of our players away.

It was a very tight first half with Sandra starting in goals and making some fine saves. Rosemarie , Mary Sheehy and Siobhan stood strong on the back line. Blaithnaid and Maeve were on the wingbacks with Susan making plenty of runs from the centre.

Caroline Dillane and Marguerite were working hard in midfield. Denise, Caroline Harrington and Tracey were battling in the half forward line. With Helen, Fiona and Sharon making runs looking for the ball. As we had a lot of players, some of ours helped Beaufort with Sorcha and Mairead leading the line and having a great battle with our backs.

Cait worked hard on the wing. Amy was making life hard for Blaithnaid with her runs. Mary O Connor and Heather were staying very tight on their players as well. Noelle started her first game in goals and did not concede any goals in the first half, which we were down by a point at that stage.

We played much more attacking football in the second which enabled Mary O Connor to score a goal for us( even though she was playing with Beaufort).

With only a couple of minutes to go, the ball found its way to Maeve in the forwards, she turned , hopped the ball and buried into the back of the net to help us to win by 1 point.

Well done to everyone that played and to those that made their debuts, the 2 Carolines, Mairead, Cait and Fiona. Thanks to our supporters who travelled on the day,  thanks must also go to Anna and Troy for helping on the sideline and to Mike Healy for inviting us. It was a most enjoyable day and for a great cause.
