Na GaeilBEST WISHES: To all the boys and girls who are doing exams over the coming weeks. Hopefully all the study and hard work will pay off and may all of you get outstanding results.

JUNIOR:Na Gaeil  Juniors faced Desmonds in the second round of the junior league on friday last in Killeen. Na Gaeil had a very slow start to the opening half and had it not been for keeper Mark O’Connor who was in excellent form to deny the visitors on several occasions, leaving the the home side trailing at half time by five points.

Na Gaeil but in the hard graft in the second half to claw back at the Desmonds lead with Seamie O’Neill, Darren Burns and Emmett Curran with the score of the game, when with a dummy solo opened up what was a congested defence for him to goal and with it the lead for the first time. Another long range effort from Seamie O’Neill gave the home side the insurance score to finish Na Gaeil 01-10, Desmonds 01-08

JUNIOR:Junior County League play Gneeveguilla at home 7:30 Friday

NA GAEIL u12:Ballymacelligott played host to Na Gaeil last Sunday in the  U12 County League. In a very entertaining game where the sides matched each other for scores throughout , Na Gaeil  edged ahead with points from Edward Sheehy,Sean O Connor and Oisin Mauncell .

Just before half-time Ballymac were thrown a lifeline when they got a goal  leaving just a single point between the sides .The second half was a tight affair but Kieran O Connor,Edward Sheehy and Graham Sheehy picked off extra points and our mid-field and defence  kept us in  front with some great tackling and blocking.

In the final quarter, the home side got their second goal and with the clock counting down going into injury time it looked like it would be honours even until Jamie Fitzgerald played a pin point accurate ball into Sean O Connor who slotted the ball over the bar from a tight angle in what was to prove the winning score for Na Gaeil. In our second game the home side took full advantage of a big squad of players and raced into the lead before half time. All credit is due to  Na Gaeil  who rallied well in the second half and matched their opponents in possession and commitment but were unable to haul back the  lead built up by the home side before half time.

Another entertaining, high scoring game against a strong Ballymac team and a great team effort by the boys.

We picked off some fine scores, especially in the second half and all the lads can be proud of their performance once again. Team  : J. Roche, D.Hendrickson, C.Clifford, D.Fitzgerald, S.O Connell, N.Rodgers, C.Sheehan, A.Delahunty.S.Kelly,S.Barrett.
Training continues Thursday 7pm.

NA GAEIL SENIOR LADIES: Na Gaeil v Listowel Emmets, Ladies County League Div 2 B-Final.   We played away to Listowel in Div 2 B-Final on Saturday night. The evening was damp and slippery. It was going to be a tight and physical game between the sides. Sarah Cunningham started the game with a couple of early points.Listowel replyed their 1st point but Jadyn followed this up with a fisted goal and a fine worked point.

Ayesha worked her way through for another goal but Listowel came back with 3 unanswered points. Meagan scored a fine point from range after received a quickly taken free from Marie. Ayesha finished off the 1st half with another well taken point. We went in at half time leading 2-06 to 0-04. Eilis started the 2nd half with a point.

Nora got herself a well earned goal. With more points from Jadyn, Marie and Sarah, we had a comfortable lead but Listowel came back at us scoring a couple of quick goals. We gathered ourselves again, started to get hold of the ball and take control of the game. Meabh came on and scored a well taken goal for us. We dominated to the end with our backs Brid,Kim and Muireann( who had a great running battle with her forward) winning most balls coming into them.

Our halfbacks Sarah Quigley, Maura and Riona worked tirelessly against a strong half forward line but very rarely gave them an inch. Marie and Eilis were locked in a good battle in midfield, Meagan, Ayesha and Kate seemed to be everywhere, winning kickouts, scoring and setting up scores. Jadyn, Nora and Sarah C were moving , creating space for others and themselves to score.

Sile, Miriam, Eimear, Erika and Nessa came on with fresh legs to help us finish the game strongly and keep control. Well done to all on a great performance where team play won it for us. Thanks to our Maor Uisce Siena for helping us with the water and stats. Final Score – 4.13 to 2.05

NA GAEIL U14 :Well done to the girls after their win back in Castlegregory last Saturday.  The day was perfect for football and Castle had the pitch in great condition Unfortunately for the home team the girls
in green were in top form and opened up a big lead early into the game with scores from most of the forwards particularly Emily who scored 1-3.Na Gaeil captained by Abi led at halftime 3-7 to 0-1.

The team was rotated quite a bit in the second half to allow the girls a chance to play in different positions and they all adjusted well to this move. The game finished on a scoreline of Castlegregory 0-3 Na Gaeil 3-12 and the girls enjoyed their well deserved 99’s on the way This result leaves us fourth in the table and qualifing for the semi-finals We will more than likely face Scartaglin who we had a close game against earlier in the season.  Date and venue to be decided. Training continues Wed 6:30 – 7:30 and Sun 5:30 to 6:30 unless otherwise
