Na GaeilNA GAEIL CYCLE

Our Annual cycle fundraiser for the club took place in brilliant sunshine last Saturday. Well over 160 cyclists took part and all enjoyed a tough, but very satisfying day. Na Gaeil would like to thank all who took part and to all who worked in tirelessly in the background. Job well done!

Thanks to Sean and all in the club for hosting a great after cycle party.

NA GAEIL u14: The U14 team played Churchill in the final of the St Brendan’s championship last Wednesday evening in Blennerville. Na Gaeil were seeking their second title in a rowbut were up against a team who reached the County League Division one final and played in Feile earlier in the season.

Churchill played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and dominated possession. Na Gaeil couldn’t get the ball out of their own half in the opening period and struggled to curtail the Churchill attacks.

Na Gaeil got their first score after eighteen minutes when John Ward scored a point. Dan Goggin followed up with a second point three minutes later; however Churchill totally dominated the first half and led at half time by 3-10 to 0-2.

Cillian Spillane opened the scoring in the second half when he scored a goal after six minutes. Churchill replied with their first score of the second period with a point minutes later.

However Na Gaeil replied through two points from Dan Goggin and another point from Cillian Spillane. The Na Gaeil backs restricted Churchill to a single score in the second half, with Adam Burke, Fergal Barry and Damien Bourke putting in impressive performances in the second half.

David Fitzgerald made two great saves which kept Na Gaeil in touching distance of their opponents. In the forwards Cillian Spllane worked hard and was rewarded with his second goal of the match, which left nine points between the teams.

Robin McCarthy then got his first score of the game with a point after twenty five minutes. Na Gaeil went in search of further scores but were unable to add to their tally and the match finished with the score line of Na Gaeil 2-6 Churchill 3-11.
