NA GAEIL U16 LADIES:Na Gaeil/Dingle v Southern Gaels Div 1 Ladies U16 County League Semi Final. We played away to a strong physical Southern Gaels team on Tuesday evening in the county league semi final in Glenbeigh.

We started with Erika in goals, who played for us despite being injured and did very well, Aishling , Blaithnoid and Eimear had to work really hard against their forwards.

Our half backs Sarah, Seili and Kelly were busy chasing their players. Nora and Muireann were trying to help our defenders and try and get our ball forward. We struggled in the first half to try and cope with their strong play but we got to half time and came out more settled in the second half .

We managed to get hold of the ball better. With Aimee and Caoimhe working the corners, making space and earning free kicks. Our half backs and midfield starting to take control and we started getting the ball forward fast, with scores coming from Meagan, Sibeal and Niamh. Jadyn worked tirelessly all the way through the game, scoring 5 points , harassing their defenders and getting back and helping our backs.

Eimear who was captain on the night, played a real captain’s role on the night, defending well, winning ball and setting up attacks from defence. But all the damage was done in the first half and we ran out of time.

Best of luck to Gaels in the final. We were asking for a lot to overcome Gaels, as we had players missing that were injured, players who were injured and sick but still played for us on the night.

It was a great achievement for us to reach the semi with a very young team. To be probably the 3rd best team in the county and if we had our full team, we might have gone all the way. Well done to all , and again thanks to parents for supporting us.
