Na GaeilNA GAEIL LADIES: Na Gaeil v Kerins O Rahillys, Tralee Town League U16 Final

We played Kerins O’Rahillys in the final at Killeen on Monday in a very exciting game. This was going to be a very tight game as we were missing a few girls through sickness and injury.

Aimee started in goals for us with our Captain Eimear starting at full back and Blaithnoid and Maura in the corners. They were kept very busy making sure that their forwards got very little space.

Sarah, Ciara and Ria played on the half back line but got very little time to go forward as Rahillys forwards gave them no space. Nora and Nessa had to work hard in midfield against a big strong Rahillys midfield. Meagan and Jadyn were marked tightly for the first half as were our full forwards Brid, Caoimhe and Clodagh.

It was a very tight first half with Rahillys scoring 4 points but Kay who started at centre half forward had a superb first half with some great running and earning herself 1-01 for her hard work. It was all level at half time, we missed a few chances but started the second half brightly.

Grainne came in at the backs and won some great ball. Jadyn started to find the space and scored a couple of early points, Sarah made a couple of great runs and earned herself a point.

Meagan and Nora scored another point each. Rahillys still did not give up scoring a couple of goals and points. Brid went into goals at half time and made some super saves and her fast kickouts started all our attacks again.

We were up by a point going into injury time, Rahillys made a burst through the centre and scored a goal for them to lead by 2 points with seconds left, but as per usual, we have a team that do not know when to give up.

Sarah won the ball in our backs and got the ball to Jadyn, who picked out Meagan superbly on the 40. Our Supporters let her know that we needed a goal, she ran from the 40, twisted and turned through 4 or 5 players, got into about 8 yards from goal and buried it into the back of the net.

The sideline erupted with joy. The final whistle was blown not long after. It was a joy to watch this game for all supporters as it was end to end, great attacking football, along with never say die attitude. Well done to Captain Eimear and her team.

Team ; Aimee Kerins, Blaithnoid O Connor, Eimear Nolan, Maura Adams, Sarah Quigley, Ciara Gaynor, Ria Walsh, Nessa Mc Garty, Nora O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Kay Barry, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Caoimhe Hanafin, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early.

Na Gaeil Ladies v Austin Stacks, North Kerry League U14 Div 1.

We played away to Austin Stacks on Wednesday evening. A bright evening with a slight breeze. We had a few early chances with Brid, Caragh and Roisin in the full forward line but we could not take advantage, At the other end Stacks had Molly Carroll on fine form, scoring an early goal.

To which Jadyn scored a point with Meagan following up with another goal. Kay worked hard in the centre of half forwards and getting herself a fine point. Muireann (Captain) and Mary were being marked tight and were getting no space, Dearbhla, Grainne and Ciara were kept very busy and were sending some great balls forward.

Our full backs Sophie , Ria, Aimee and Clodagh were being run off their feet. Abi, who started in goals came ou and was unlucky not to get a couple of scores. But the game was down to a duel of scoring between Jadyn and Meagan against Molly. With Meagan scoring 4.02 and Jadyn scoring 2.05, but it was Molly that came out on top with scoring 6 goals herself, and setting up a few more scores for her team mates.

This was a fierce exciting game, not one for the faint-hearted but alas we lost to Stacks in the end. Well done to our players and to some of our younger players Caragh O Neill and Sophie Lowham who made their debuts for the U14’s.

Team ; Aimee Kerins, Ciara Gaynor, Ria Walsh,Muireann Moriarty, Mary O Connell, Meagan Sheehy, Kay Barry, Jadyn Lucey, Brid Sinnott, Dearbhla Quirke, Clodagh O Connor, Grainne Early, Abi Casey, Roisin Collins, Caragh O Neill, Sophie Lowham.

Na Gaeil Ladies v John Mitchels , North Kerry League U14 Div 1.

We played John Mitchels in Killeen on Friday night. We had a light drizzle of rain during the game.

Muireann and Dearbhla worked hard in the half back line allowing midfielders Meagan and Mary to get forward and support Jadyn and Clodagh. Brid, Roisin and Aimee (Captain) used the space in full forward line to great effect.

Grainne and Ciara kept things tight in the full back line with Abi starting in goals. Mary settled us with an early point, then with some fine long range points from Jadyn and a goal apiece from Muireann and Meagan, we took control of the game. Aimee finished the first half with a well worked point.

We made a few changes at half time with Abi coming out from goals, creating scores for her team mates. We got some more fine points from Brid, Meagan , Mary and Ciara, with a goal apiece coming from Clodagh and Grainne. All our girls played a great game of quick kick passing football, with each player having to work hard and play for each other. Well done girls.

Na Gaeil Ladies v Currow, North Kerry League U14 Div 1.

After a very busy week of football, we played at home to Currow on Sunday evening in torrid conditions. It was very wet and the field was fierce slippery.

If we could win this game, we were set for the final, with Meagan and Mary running midfield, Muireann and Dearbhla stopping all runs coming from midfield.

Grainne and Ria did not let any player near our goals with Currow having to take long kicks for points. Caragh got us a fine early goal along a goal apiece from Mary and Meagan as well. Kay and Clodagh were working the wings well allowing Jadyn the space to score another few points.

Aimee and Ciara(Captain) were unlucky not to get another couple of scores only for last ditch tackling. We were in control at half time, so we made a few changes with Brid,Sophie going into the forwards and caused plenty of havoc.

Dearbhla and Abi joined into the forwards and got themselves a point apiece. We got a few scores and finished the game strongly. We can now look forward to playing Listowel on Wednesday night in Ballyduff at 5.45 in the final. Well done to everyone in making the final.
