NA GAEIL U14

Thanks to everyone who helped out with our fund raising activities over the past week. We did bag packing in Dunnes Stores on Saturday.

It was great so get so many players and parents to turn up and help out on a long week end. On Friday night we had a great exhibition of football when the Na Gaeil All Stars played Na Gaeil juniors.

We had a great evening at the club which was enjoyed equally by players and spectators alike. There are rumours that a number of former players are thinking of making come backs after Friday night!

A big thanks to all the players, helpers and spectators who turned up to make this a great occasion. A special word of thanks must go to Denise and Mike Burns and Fiona and Liam Goggin who came up with the original idea and then organised the match.

On the field the U14 team are continuing their preparations for the final of the CentralRegion league. There will be training on Tuesday and a challenge game against John Mitchels next Thursday.

The final against Dingle has been scheduled for August 18th. Don’t forget our cycle on the 30th August.

NA GAEIL GIRLS U12

Congratulations to the girls on their victory in the North Kerry Plate Final last Thursday. The girls played Kerins O’Rahilly’s with KOR having home advantage.

The conditions were perfect for football and both teams were up for the game having played each other in a very close battle a couple of weeks previously.

Ciara De Rath captained the team on the day and was very influential at wing back. Na Gaeil played with the advantage in the first half and went in at half time ahead with a scoreline of 4 – 5 to 2 – 1 thanks to goals from Mary O’Connell, Brid Sinnott, Emme Dewhy and Caragh O’Neill.

The girls had to dig in deep in the second half with KOR coming at the strongly, but the defence played great with fantastic play from Grainne early at fullback and Dearbhla Quirke at centreback.

Kayla O’Brien (1st half) and Emily Crowe (2nd half) pulled off some great saves in goal. KOR had the better of the scoring in the 2nd half, 1-2 to 0-3 but this was not enough to overcome a very impressive Na Gaeil Under 12 team.

Final score, Na Gaeil 4-8 KOR 3-3. A big thank you to all the parents and freinds that turned up to support the girls.
