NATHAN McDonnell – managing director of Ballyseedy has been elected as the new President of Tralee Chamber Alliance.

Nathan takes over from Kevin McCarthy, managing director of the Garvey Group having been elected at last week’s AGM which took place online.

Following his election Mr McDonnell said: “I’m delighted to accept the role of President of Tralee Chamber Alliance. I’ve watched the Chamber Alliance grow in stature over the last few years and I believe it’s a really important entity for the town. Kevin McCarthy has been a great president and it’s an honour to take over from him.

“The chamber has been a reliable source of information during the pandemic and there have been lots of positive initiatives and projects over the last few years. It’s vitally important that local business’s support the Chamber so we can continue to deliver these initiatives and drive economic activity. A prosperous town will benefit everyone.

Tralee is a fantastic town with massive potential but we need to get better at telling our story to the world. We need more jobs and industry but we can’t sit on our hands waiting for them to find us.

We need to be more proactive about reaching out to companies and selling the benefits of Tralee. This is what I’d like to see the Chamber focus on during my tenure,” said Mr McDonnell.

Speaking following the AGM, outgoing president Kevin McCarthy said: “It  has been a  real privilege to represent the Tralee Chamber board and serve as president over the past two years.

“It has been a particularly challenging time for businesses and the chamber had a vital role to play through communicating and offering support across all sectors here in Tralee and North Kerry.”

Tralee Chamber has maintained a strong membership base which shows the appetite that the people of Tralee have for succeeding and growing business. I would like to take this opportunity to wish Nathan the very best in his new role, he will have fantastic support from the board and team at Tralee Chamber who are extremely hard working and have the very best interests of Tralee at the heart of their work.”

I have gone to Ballyseedy on a regular basis as a customer and from my experience I can say Nathan McDonnell will make a great new President for Tralee Chamber Alliance, probably the best yet.
