Nearly 350 COVID-Related Fines Issued By Kerry Gardaí Since Start Of Pandemic

THERE have been 346 COVID-related fines issued to people by gardaí in the Kerry Division up to March 25 this year.

Gardaí in the Southern Region (Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Waterford) issued more fines than any other region (5,035), with the Dublin region next (4,462), followed by the North Western Region (3,703) and the Eastern Region (3,234). See graphics below.

The figures were revealed by An Garda Síochána as they again asked the public  to keep following public health advice to protect yourselves and the front-line workers.

Over 2,700 fines have been issued nationally to date to people attending or organising house parties.

To date, An Garda Síochána has issued approximately 16,834 Covid-19 fines nationally across the range of all COVID-19 breaches.

As of close of business on March 25, the following number of fines had been issued:

• 12,336 €100 fines for non-essential travel
• 721 €500 fines for non-essential journeys to airports/ports – the total number of €100 and €500 fines for non-essential journeys to airports/ports is 1096
• 554 €500 fines for organising a house party and 2,159 €150 fines for attending a house party
• 293 fines of €80 each for not wearing a face covering
• 313 fines of €100 for non-essential travel by persons not ordinarily resident in the State

75% of the fines issued were to males and 25% to females.  44% of the fines were issued on a Saturday and Sunday.

53% of the offenders are in the 18 to 15 age group, with 90% of the offenders under the age of 45. Six per cent are in the 46-54 group, three per cent in the 56-65 and one per cent over 65.

    How many or your so called front line Garda hero’s have died from the virus?
