NEW ‘age-friendly’ benches have been installed at two locations in the town square.

The newly installed seating was funded following an application by Tralee Chamber Alliance to Kerry County Council under the Community Enhancement Programme.

David Scott of Tralee Chamber Alliance said; “By making our outdoor spaces and public realm pleasant, clean, accessible and safe for older people we can create inclusive communities and age-friendly spaces. By designing for the young you exclude the old, but if you design for the old you include everyone”.

Combining polished granite, stainless steel and treated timber, the benches are of high quality, consistent with other seating along the Mall and Russell Street.

“This newly installed seating provides a functional, attractive, and inviting space encouraging all members of the public to stop and relax, chat with friends, and enjoy time in our town centre,” said David.
