This was revealed by Managing Consultant with Tralee Chamber Alliance, Ken Tobin, at the launch of the Action Plan to Developing Tourism in Tralee on Monday in Ballyseede Castle Hotel.

In his address, Mr Tobin said the tourism team in the Chamber is currently working on organising a festival to coincide with Chinese New Year on Saturday, January 25, 2020.

“We are hopeful of a favourable outcome to our funding application in the coming days. Our plans are already at an advanced stage and this Festival is being developed as part of a strategy we are working on with our tourism partners in Fáilte Ireland and Kerry County Council, to make Tralee Ireland’s first ‘China-friendly’ tourism town,” said Mr Tobin.

Also, with financial support and backing, he said they will be in a position to make a series of announcements in the coming weeks, including plans to grow the National Circus Festival and the Kingdom County Fair.

Mr Tobin also used the opportunity to call on all tourism stakeholders in Tralee to come together and engage the Chamber Alliance, to realise the potential to host a major music festival in Ballybeggan racecourse within the next two years.
