A NEW editor will take the helm at The Kerryman in the coming weeks.
Kevin Hughes, a native of Antrim, takes over from long-standing editor Declan Malone who retires after 15 years in the top job.
Mr Hughes joined The Kerryman as a sub-editor in 2004 and later became south Kerry reporter with the paper.
He lives in Beaufort and is married to wife Gillian and they have three children, Conor (5), Anna Mai (4) and Harry (17 months).
Tralee native, Donal Nolan, will be his Deputy Editor. The Oakpark native has been at the paper for over 12 years in the north Kerry reporter position.
Mr Hughes wished Declan Malone well in retirement and said he was looking forward to taking up his new role at the Denny Street office.
