KERRY College of Further Education (KCFE) officially opened its new state of the art Science Lab on Friday with Cllr Jim Finucane, Chairperson of the Kerry ETB Board, cutting the ribbon.

This is an acknowledgement of the future plans for KCFE to service the Science and Bio Industries going forward.

In addition to offering Veterinary Assistant Studies, the college introduced two new science programmes – Applied Science and Food Nutrition and Science and students performed well on the programmes.

Mary Lucey, Principal, stated that there are plans to expand the suite of science programmes going forward and she believes that students should not have to travel outside the county to study a programme of their choice at further education level.

She aims to offer a suite of programmes that will facilitate a cost effective education for Kerry students who are faced with enormous travel and accommodation costs when choosing to undertake a programme outside the county.
