New Series Written, Produced And Directed By Kerry Man Begins On TV3 Tonight

DON’T forget to tune into TV3 tonight for Kerry man Gerard Barrett’s new drama series.

Starring Pat Shortt it will begin its three week run at 10pm.

The former IT Tralee student and Knockanure native wrote, directed and produced the show which is being highly anticipated judging by the amount of coverage it’s getting nationally over the past few days. It also received a special screening for family, friends and cast in Listowel last weekend.

‘Smalltown’ is a three part, hour long episode series that tells the story of twenty-something Charlie Kelly who has returned home from London after many years.

Expecting his old community to be the same, he finds a lot has changed since he left.

Pat Shortt plays the part of the father who runs the family farm and is struggling to deal with illness of his wife and Charlie’s mother.

Last year, Barrett’s film ‘Glassland’ – starring Toni Collette and Jack Reynor – won the Best Irish Film award at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival.

Barrett has previously won the IFTA Rising Star Award at the Irish Film and Television Academy Awards in Dublin for his debut feature ‘Pilgrim Hill’ which was widely acclaimed.

Smalltown airs on TV3 on airs on September 1st, 8th, and 15th at 10pm each night.
