THE new nightclub in the old Fabric building on Godfrey Place is set for a May opening, according to one of the men behind the business.

James Flaherty from Lixnaw said while the May Bank Holiday weekend would be an ideal time to open, it’s more likely that it will be sometime later that month.

Mr Flaherty is one of four people behind the venture which will also see a new live music bar opening at the weekends in the building. They are not making the new name for the club public just yet, but watch this space.

Mr Flaherty believes there is a need for a new nightclub for young people in the town and beyond.

“There is a huge catchment area, not only in Tralee, but around the town as well, stretching up towards Ballyheigue, Lixnaw and other areas. At the moment, the young people there are bypassing the town. We want to bring them back in,” he said.

Mr Flaherty said that while there will be many changes to the interior, there won’t be a complete overhaul of the building and people may recognise a few features from the old Fabric. He promised that punters will be very impressed with the look of the new club when it opens.

There will be a cover charge for the nightclub but it was not revealed how much customers will have to pay.

He also said there may be a ‘Members Club’ option, with people paying an annual fee entitling them to certain privileges in the club, like free passes for friends, a special members bar area and other perks.
