TRALEE’s new skatepark is now open to the public.

Young skateboarders got to try out the slopes on Ox Park — named in memory of local skateboard legend Bruce Kelliher — today, while an official opening is scheduled for late next week.

Mayor of Tralee, Mikey Sheehy, paid a visit to the park — which is located adjacent to Tralee Sports Complex car park — on Friday afternoon and was very impressed.

Mayor Sheehy said that excitement had been building to see this project come to fruition and completion.

“The gates at Ox Park are now open to the public and people have the opportunity to experience Tralee’s new skate park in all its glory. This project was made possible through a joint community/council collaboration and will offer another local sporting facility,” he said.

“It’s fitting that this amenity is named after Bruce ‘Ox’ Kelliher who was one of Tralee’s skateboarding trailblazers,” added the Mayor.

The park will be open from 9am until 9pm from Mondays to Fridays and 10am until 6pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
