Number Of Jobless Rises Again In Tralee

TRALEE’S jobless figure rose by 44 in December on the previous month with 3,936 people now signing on the Live Register, according to the latest data from the Central Statistics Office.

Killarney had the biggest increase as the county saw the number of unemployed increase by 4.6% on November’s figure.

It’s the second month in a row that the figure has risen in Tralee. The jobless figure has fallen by 581 in the past 12 months — from 4,517 in December 2016 to 3,936 last month.

There were 9,266 people on the register in Kerry in November with the seven social welfare offices in Kerry all recording monthly increases.

Killarney saw the biggest increase, up 167 to 1,595, Dingle was up by 61 to 609 and Kenmare was up 34 to 354.

Killorglin rose by 37 to 702, Caherciveen by 15 to 396 and Listowel by 56 to 1,674.
