A TRALEE-BASED women’s health and fitness business is doing its bit to help promote breast cancer awareness month this October by teaming up with local cancer support charity, Recovery Haven Kerry.

Nutrifit for Women, which provides a workout programme and nutritional advice to women of all ages, is dedicating the month of October to help raise funds for Recovery Haven – a gesture owner Majella Duignan describes as a ‘privilege.’

As well as a wonderful raffle currently being run among her existing members, Majella has also pledged to donate €10 to the charity for every new member that joins Nutritfit for Women between now and the end of the month.

On top of that, Majella’s fundraising efforts will include a coffee and information morning at the Nutrifit base at 2 Princes St (above Il Pomo Doro restaurant) on Tuesday morning, October 23 from 10am to 12noon, where the public can pop in and learn more about both Nutrifit for Women as well as the wonderful services offered at Recovery Haven.

As well as some tasty baked goods, there will be some great spot prizes up for grabs on the day, with 100 per cent of the funds raised being donated to the charity.

“It is my privilege to be in a position to help out Recovery Haven, as both of my parents are cancer survivors. Unfortunately, cancer is very prevalent in my immediate family and we have lost too many that we have loved to this insidious disease,” Majella explained.

“My true passion is health and wellness, but as we all know there are no guarantees in life and when we or our loved ones are faced with a cancer diagnosis we place our lives and fate not only in the wonderful medical professionals, but also in the passionate men and women in Recovery Haven. They are supportive, kind, empathetic and are a safe haven for those who are ill and at their most vulnerable. We in Kerry are so lucky to have this wonderful service so it is with the greatest pride that I have partnered with Recovery Haven for October.”

Majella is encouraging as many people as possible to pop along to the coffee morning on October 23 and help raise as much money as possible for Recovery Haven.
