A TRALEE family presented the proceeds of a charity campaign to Recovery Haven Kerry Cancer Support House on Tuesday.

Mom Majella and daughters Meabh and Maria O’Connell held ‘The Triple Chop’ back in October where they cut off part of their hair to donate to The Little Princess Trust.

At the same time, they set up a gofundme page for the event with all proceeds going to Recovery Haven. The total raised came to €1,750. Majella thanked Lesley and Carrie-Anne of Hairworks for cutting their hair and everyone involved.

“We are delighted with the amount we raised, it exceeded all our expectations. We would like to sincerely thank everyone who donated to our fundraiser via our GoFundMe page, in the collection buckets in O’Connell’s Pharmacy,  Tralee Medical Centre and Hairworks Hair & Beauty Salon — especially Carrie Anne and Lesley — also to Listellick National School for a Halloween Dress up fundraiser.”

“We donated 10 inches of hair each to “The Little Princess Trust” that provide real wigs free of charge to children suffering hair loss due to cancer treatment and alopecia in Ireland & the UK.
In 2018 the charity provided 1,200 free wigs to children in Ireland & the UK. We hope we might have inspired others to donate their hair to this amazing cause.”
