A PUBLIC meeting will take place for The Open Arms Kerry Suicide & Mental Health Awareness Centre tonight (Thursday) in The Rose Hotel, Tralee.

The purpose of this meeting will be to discuss various issues surrounding mental health and suicide, and as a community how we can tackle them together.

On the night there will be various speakers who have first hand experience in coping, empathising, and understanding the various topics surrounding mental health and suicide in our society today.

Some of our speakers include, Noreen Murphy of Lisheen House and Cormac Williams of the Psychiatric Nurses Association.

The Open Arms Kerry is a 100% voluntary community initiative so everyone is welcome to come along on the night.

Open Arms Kerry feels that, at a time when our health services are under pressure and when our health workers are struggling to provide proper health care interventions, our communities can play a part in helping to alleviate some of the problems that people face in their daily lives.

It is the aim of the Open Arms Kerry to provide a welcoming and safe environment that fosters growth and recovery of each individual, their families, and those relationships deemed important to the individual seeking services.

They are committed to providing individualized and integrated mental health interventions that incorporate best practices and to organise a dedicated team of multi-disciplinary professionals to assist people in achieving their goals.
