Orlagh Winters ProfileTHERE is a weakness that overcomes me when I see a handbag I want.

To say I become a woman possessed is an understatement. Apparently to some expert somewhere in the world, you can tell a lot about a girl by her choice of handbag.

I am not quite sure where I fit in to this study as I have a love for lots of handbag styles. Clutch, cross-body, oversize or tote it doesn’t matter I love them all.

Designer bags are my drug and I’m sure that if I lived in the States I would probably be in therapy for “bag addiction”.

Counterfeit goods are a huge problem in every country and in Italy they are trying to combat this by imposing a €10,000 fine for those caught buying a fake bag.

I am off to Italy on Thursday for a few days and I certainly won’t be taking any chances, firstly because I would probably end up in prison as I couldn’t afford such a fine and secondly the chances are, that the counterfeit bag is probably made in some sweatshop in a third world country.

My favourite bag is my Lulu Guinness iconic lips. It is completely impractical as it holds next to nothing but I deem this a minor detail as it looks good and sure that’s all that matters. Isn’t it?

My everyday bag resembles a skip on the inside. I carry way too much make up, tissues (mostly used), coins, hairbrush, comb, mints, gum and lots of rubbish and is in a bad need of a clear out but that rarely happens. When I am looking for my phone I normally have to ring it to find it in the jungle inside my bag.

Shops like TK Maxx have made designer bags affordable to all of us and I always have to have a look, even if I go in to buy a pair of socks the bags just call out my name. They also cleverly have them located just inside the door so “addicts” like myself have no chance.

At Saturday night’s fashion show in Ballyroe Heights Hotel, Carrig Donn had some beautiful bags on show and manager Eileen has a great eye for matching their bags with their incredible clothing collection. I have no doubt that they are going to have a bumper Christmas and remember Carrig Donn is 100% Irish owned.

A good quality leather bag is a great investment as the weathered leathered look is even more attractive than when it is spanking new. A good bag will last you years so make sure that you put one on your Christmas wish list this year, Santa needs a bit of time to make it.

So Ladies there you have it a bag is a great investment, well kind of!!

Until next week,

Stay stylish!

Orlagh xx
