THERE are many wonderful things about living in Kerry and none more so than the spectacular scenery.

Last night I got what can only be described as a “catch your breath” moment when I attended the Irish premiere of a fascinating film called The Uncountable Laughter Of The Sea.

The film highlights and exposes Kerry in all her glory and has a magical story to tell. Ballyheigue native Patrick Brendan O’Neill is the master behind the film and was justifiably treated to a standing ovation last night when we all had time to compose ourselves and catch our breath.

I think everyone in attendance came away with something different from the haunting story, as it is such a spiritual journey for the audience.

I think that I often take what is on our doorstep for granted and sometimes it takes seeing something as wonderful as this movie to make me appreciate just how beautiful Kerry is.

I won’t give too much away but I would certainly recommend that everyone goes to see The Uncountable Laughter Of The Sea to truly experience the magical and mystical voyage. It is showing in the Cineplex from next Friday for one week.

Patrick O’Neill spoke so eloquently and with such passion last night about how difficult it was to realise his dream as there was no funding made available. This touched a chord with me as it is quite sad that too often dreams are crushed due to no finance being made available.

There are so many poets, writers, artists, musicians and dancers who never get to reach their full potential and produce masterpieces, as there is no funding made available to them.

Ireland has always had an abundance of talent and still has, but we as a nation are in danger of losing them to countries where they are appreciated.

Millions of euros have been squandered on pointless projects while struggling artists are constantly facing rejection. As always I advocate for supporting Irish fashion and after last night I will definitely be an advocate for Irish film.

It was so lovely to see our loyal and gifted President D Higgins in attendance at the premiere and as a poet I am sure he will promote the film.

Kerry has many amazing features but for me the most amazing is the scenery and if you feel the same as me you will certainly not want to miss this film.

Until next week,

Appreciate what you have!
