Orlagh Winters ProfileSO what were your favourite and least favourite moments of 2014? Who got it right and who got it wrong?

For me Kate Middleton did not put a foot wrong this year.  She wowed the world in her floor length gowns and remained true to British designers. Her obvious favourite to wear was Jenny Packham, a favourite of mine too as I wore one of her creations on my wedding day.

She is a designer’s dream and indeed the shops like Hobbs or Reiss immediately sell out of whatever Kate wears for a royal engagement. Her style is not too unlike her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.

Closer to home, the super-talented Carol Kennelly added a beautiful touch of glamour to the RDS Horseshow when she won the coveted title of best dressed lady wearing a Tina Griffin outfit teamed with one of her own masterpieces.

I was there that day and to say she was a most deserving winner is an understatement. I have no doubt that every racecourse and wedding of 2015 will have a Carol Kennelly piece worn by some lady. I for one will be wearing one.

Cork teacher Helen Quealy-Murphy was declared the winner of the best dressed at Galway Races this year and she was a fantastic choice by the judges. What was extra special about Helen’s win was that is was a great mix of high street and designer.

Her quirky style is a breath of fresh air and for those of you interested in fashion blogs, you should follow Helen’s informative entertaining blog called Daily Diva.

Unfortunately with all of those who get it right, there are as many who don’t. Now I am not going to be one of those critics who bitch just for the sake of it, but seriously, who dresses Miley Cyrus and Kim Kardashian?

They seldom, if ever, get it right and for once I wish they would stop with the attention-seeking, crazy creations and wear something that highlights their real beauty.

They are both stunning looking ladies but they dress like cheap tramps. Surely with their bank accounts they could afford to dress a lot better and for once have the headlines read how classy they look rather than how trashy they look.

So who will be on the beat and worst dressed lists next year?
