Orlagh new profile 1IT is seldom when I read something these days that I am shocked, but by God I was more than shocked when I read about the autistic boy in Carrigaline that was attacked by a group of teenagers.

Twigs were shoved down his throat and he was forced to expose himself. Now I am neither religious or a mother but for the love of God what the hell is going on in today’s world?

What kind of upbringing are these thugs experiencing that they would even think about carrying out such a horrible act against a vulnerable young boy?

When are parents going to be responsible for the actions of their children and when is someone in power going to stand up and ask these questions? My heart broke hearing the father of the victim speak on national radio and I don’t think I was alone in thinking that these thugs deserve to have some punishment.

I have always been a fan of social media although I reckon I’m snooped on more than I snoop but that is another day’s work. Let’s just say I love the BLOCK button.

The fact that these peopleĀ filmed their horrific act and posted it on Facebook genuinely turned my stomach. What the hell is happening in our society that these brats would think that this was going to be okay and that they would gain lots of “likes” from their peers.

They are disgusting little thugs and I really hope that they receive the hard stamp of the law on their foreheads. I did read that people were somewhat defending their callous actions by saying that they were only aged fifteen or sixteen.

What a load of codswallop. There is no young lad of their age in today’s society that doesn’t know right from wrong unless they are mentally challenged.

To say my blood was boiling when I heard about their deeds would be an understatement, I was fuming. I cannot and never will understand how a mother or father does not know where their children are, who they are hanging out with and what they are posting on social media.

Wise up folks, children learn their life skills from home so be careful what you teach them.

I have no allegiance to any political party. I have always voted on the best candidate in my area but I have to say if I was living in the Carrigaline area I would be contacting my local politicians to ensure that there is some repercussions for these brats.

The guards issued a statement that they were aware of an incident happening, well I hope that the parents of this poor boy make a formal complaint and that they are dealt with accordingly.

In the meantime I hope that the young victim makes a full recovery and does not have any lasting scars, mentally or otherwise in the future after his ordeal.

Until next week,

Look after the vulnerable in our society!

Orlagh xx
