Orlagh Winters ProfileSO there is no doubting that Romeo Beckham is one handsome little dude.

It is hardly surprising that he was chosen as the face for Burberry’s Christmas campaign. He has, as my mother would say, a great mix of both his parents.

I wonder did he want to do the campaign or was he pushed by Victoria and David?

He certainly didn’t seem in any way fazed by the flashing bulbs of the cameras on Monday night at the launch in Burberry’s Regent Street store.

Any of you who have ever visited Regent Street will know that unless you have won the lotto or robbed a bank, that the chances of being able to afford to shop in the majority of stores there are very slim.

Staying on the subject of children’s clothing, I don’t think that I am alone in feeling that there is something wrong with the new culture of dressing children like adults.

Girls wearing platform shoes, belly tops and very short skirts is, to me, a trend that I wish didn’t exist.

Childhood is a precious time and therefore children should be allowed be children.  I don’t agree in make up on a child full stop.

Walking around some chain stores, it is very obvious that the marketing departments are chanelling a lot of their attention and energy on targeting children.

It is unhealthy and very wrong and is not appropriate in any shape or form. Let kids be kids is what I say.

Here in Tralee there is a wonderful children’s shop called Divas and Dudes where you can buy stylish and most importantly, age-appropriate clothes for your child.

At a recent fashion show the collection brought the house down. Drop into Denise as she has an incredible eye for dressing children.

Shaws department store is always worth visiting when choosing your children’s clothes too. They have some great affordable ranges which is always important as kids grow so quickly you need to get value for money.

I have two older sisters so I inherited lots of clothes from them, this still happens today as we are constantly sharing/stealing each others ensembles.

School uniforms are great for combating all notions of dressing kids as adults, but I did see a girl aged about 10 in three inch wedges yesterday which prompted me to write this piece.

This will cause untold damage to her young feet.

If you ever pass Dowlings, the wonderful shoe shop in town, you will see the fabulous shoes that are available for kids. It is worth visiting a shop where the staff know their trade and that is most definitely true about Dowlings.

I know little darlings have their own minds and in an age with such easy access to the internet, they may have their own ideas about what is good for them but don’t give in!

Keep them as children as long as you can as they will be grown-ups for long enough!

Until next week,

Stay stylish!
