Orlagh Winters ProfileIT’S Tuesday morning and I am back in Tralee after a long weekend in Italy and I am very glad to be home.

Firstly, because no matter where I am in the world, there is nothing that beats waking up in your own bed.

Secondly, I am delighted that I don’t have to look at the beautiful Italians (both men and women) any longer.

Every flaw that I have is exacerbated by the super-stylish Italians. They must be coached at birth on how to look good every day. We had a family function that included a mass and even the priest was in a designer suit.

Maybe it’s the suntan that enhances their smouldering looks but one thing that I cannot fathom is with the amount of pasta and pizzas that they eat, how are they not huge?

I consoled myself on the flight home by thinking that I would get nothing done if I had to spend that much time preparing to look so good every morning.

On a more positive note, nothing will ever beat the sense of humour and craic that I really do believe only the Irish possess.

The one liners and bellyaching laughs were fantastic. The good nature that we Irish have is a trait that spreads across all generations.

Sometimes the most important thing that you wear every day is a smile. Yes, you can look moody and wonderful if you don’t smile, but how many times has fashion icon Victoria Beckham been criticised for not smiling?

The pictures taken of her with a smile on her face are always my favourites of her. In fairness if I had David Beckham by my side every day I would be grinning like a cheshire cat.

As November approaches there may be less to smile about as the weather gets colder and the days get shorter.

Beat the winter blues by waking up every morning and pasting the biggest smile on your face. Positive mental attitude is just as important as the longed for designer shoes or handbag. You are never fully dressed without a smile, let’s leave the moody look to the Italians and embrace our Irish traits.

Until next week….

Stay stylish!

Orlagh xx
