Over €170,000 Announced For Three Kerry Organisations

MINISTER for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, today announced the provision of €173,538 for three Kerry organisations under the CLÁR Mobility and Cancer Care Transport programme.

The three Kerry organisations to receive funding are Cahirciveen Social Services who will receive €44,100 for a vehicle with adaption; €55,638 for the Irish Wheelchair Association Kerry branch for a bus with adaption and Ard Chúram Day Care Centre CLG will get €73,800 for a bus with adaption.

Nationally, €747,000 is to be provided to fund 14 vehicles for community-based organisations providing vital services in rural areas.

The vehicles will also be used to assist people who are wheelchair-bound or have other mobility issues. They will also be used to transport people to day care centres to give respite to family members who are caring for loved ones.

The 14 vehicles will be spread across 10 counties including Kerry, Cork, Galway, Meath and Roscommon. Fine Gael Kerry Deputy Brendan Griffin has welcomed the announcement.
