Over €40,000 For MTU GoalMine TY Programme

MINISTER for Education Norma Foley TD, has announced a total of €43,956 in Dormtant Accounts funding for Munster Technological University’s GoalMine Transition Year (TY) Programme.

This tranche of funding will provide the MTU GoalMine project with the resources to enhance provision of their two-day living-lab experience for TY students.

The programme aims to equip students with entrepreneurial skills while cultivating problem solving and critical thinking, an important skill in today’s global society.

GoalMine is delivered to over 220 transition year students from eight second-level schools across Kerry.

Minister Foley said: “I have been so impressed by the innovation, creativity and entrepreneurial spirit from a scientific and technological viewpoint, displayed by all of the Transition Year students who have taken part in the GoalMine project thus far. I am delighted to announce this funding today which will ensure that the GoalMine project can extend its reach to even more students and schools going forward.”

The Dormant Accounts Action Plan provides financial support for disadvantaged communities and vulnerable groups across the country.
