A SUM of €47,935 has been allocated for KDYS Youth Centre, in Denny Street, for roof works and electrical/mechanical upgrades.

Fine Gael TD for Kerry and Minister of State with Responsibility for the Diaspora, Jimmy Deenihan, has warmly welcomed the funding.

“The announcement of this significant funding is a fantastic boost for KDYS Tralee and will assist them in the maintenance of their facilities where they carry out vital work on behalf of young people in our community. They are really deserving of this funding,” said Minister Deenihan.

“KDYS is the leading youth organisation in the South – West of Ireland and has been working with young people for more than forty-four years. KDYS Tralee works with thousands of young people between 10 and 18 years of age through volunteer-led clubs and staff-led youth projects.

“The provision of this substantial funding for KDYS Tralee underscores the Government’s ongoing commitment to enhance the quality of youth services which add such value to our communities. KDYS Tralee is among 16 youth projects to be allocated monies today by Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, Dr James Reilly TD, to fund small capital works.”
