A TRALEE man has already raised over €6,000 in memory of his mom as he takes on a running challenge this month.

Eoghan ‘Gally’ Galvin is aiming to cover 200km over the course of May in a combination of walking and running in memory of his mother Anne who tragically passed away in 2016, after a hard battle with cancer.

During her later years, she availed of two amazing services in Tralee — Kerry Cancer Support Group and the Palliative Care Unit in University Hospital Kerry.

Eoghan set up a gofundme page (which can be accessed by clicking here) on Monday and set a target of raising €6,000 by doing ‘Gally’s Gallop’.

By Wednesday morning he had surpassed the target but is leaving up the page for the duration of his challenge and hopes to raise much more.

This morning Eoghan said on the page; “Absolutely blown away by people’s generosity and by their messages of support. To see the target surpassed this morning has left me speechless. I will leave the page up for the duration of the challenge and anything extra raised will be of massive benefit to these 2 deserving charities in what are exrtaordinary times.”
