PARENTS received a letter from two Tralee schools on Monday, asking them to be vigilant after they received a report of a suspicious approach to pupils last week.

A man and woman in a black Renault Megane are said to have approached pupils from a senior class in the vicinity of Holy Family school last Friday afternoon at about 2.45pm.

The children did not go into the car and returned to the school and informed the principal of Holy Family about the incident.

The gardaí were informed and are examining CCTV footage from the area.

It has prompted both schools in the area, Scoil Eoin and Holy Family, to let parents know about the incident.

“While we don’t want to overly alarm you, we would ask you to be extra vigilant coming up to the Christmas season,” read a letter from one of the schools to parents.

The letter goes on to issue information for parents on how to tell children to deal with potential dangers, without scaring them.
