THE Meadowlands Hotel was the venue for the retirement party of Paul Dolan, who spent 36 years as a trainer with FAS.

Paul, originally from Dublin, came to Tralee in 1978 to work with FAS on the motor engineering course. In 1987 he started the highly successful video production course which has trained countless numbers of professionals who have gone on to work in TV and the film industry.

Paul, who lives in Monavalley, has been married to his wife Mary for 45 years. Paul and Mary had four children; three sons, Paul, Alan and Thomas and a daughter, Joanne, who sadly passed away.

“When me and Mary came down here we knew nobody, we had no connections at with Kerry. I came down here with a view to spending a year, but once the kids went to school and the people opened their hearts to us, we stayed,” said Paul Dolan.

“When I retired I decided to head off on my motorbike over the Pyrenees mountains in France for 12 days, so I haven’t really had a chance to sit down and think about the future,” said Paul.

“I’m still going to be involved in things that’s for sure, for some people retiring is like going to bed, I’m not going to bed,” said Paul.
