SCIENCE Foundation Ireland are calling on the people of Kerry to be a part of Science Week 2019.
This year, Science Week, taking place from November 10 to November 17, focuses on climate action with a number of ways for those in Kerry to get involved, from attending a tree planting or planting your own tree to attending a Science Week event or joining the conversation online.
IT Tralee will be hosting a number of events, including;
• Movie Screening: The Lost Bond – Monday 11 November all day at Institute of Technology Tralee (North Campus), Tralee.
• The Bioeconomy in Every Day Life – Saturday 16 November from 11am to 5pm at IT Tralee, North Campus, Tralee.
• Virtual reality Climate Change Experience – Saturday 16 November from 11am to 5pm at IT Tralee, North Campus, Tralee.

Science Week 2019 is the perfect opportunity to find out more about what climate change means and how science can help us understand the facts behind climate action and the solutions for it.
The Kerry Science Festival’s aim is to bring science and climate action to the fore of the public’s minds through fun, engaging and interactive events.
As part of Science Week, Science Foundation Ireland, in association with Coillte, is supporting the national effort to plant 440 million trees by 2040.
Coillte have kindly provided 30,000 trees to Science Foundation Ireland to be planted during Science Week.
In conjunction with the Tree Council of Ireland and Easy Treesie, there will be tree planting events taking place across Kerry where you can find out what trees do for our environment, which trees suit the Irish ecosystem the best and how you can plant your own trees at home.
Trees are essential to our ecosystem, as they reduce carbon and release oxygen into the atmosphere and as the Trillion Trees initiative drives the global movement behind tree planting forward, Science Week wants you to get involved and make a difference in Ireland.
