Petrol Prices Continue To Rise But Where Is The Cheapest?

BAD news for motorists as petrol prices continue to rise, but on the plus side they still remain cheaper than this time last year.

At the beginning of this year, petrol could be got for as low as €1.26.8 a litre.  As of Wednesday morning, the cheapest place to fill up in town is Top at the Horan Centre, with a price of 1.39.9 per litre.

Following behind is both Applegreen stations with an identical price of €1.40.8.

Cheekily perhaps, Applegreen just pip Esso on the North Circular Road and Inver on the Castlemaine Road by .1 of a cent, who are joint third cheapest, selling at €1.40.9 per litre.

Five different stations hold fourth place selling at a price of €1.41.9 per litre.

At the bottom of the table are Amber just opposite Shanakill and Texaco, McElligotts Garage, on the Oakpark Road.

Though we have seen a marked increase in the price of fuel since the beginning of the year, nationally, petrol recorded a fall of 8.7 per cent and diesel dropped in price by 11.3 per cent since April last year.

Inver at Castlemaine Road  – €1.40.9 (Diesel €1.30.9)

4. Esso at Quill Street – €1.41.9 (Diesel €1.30.9)

Topaz at Mounthawk – €141.9 (Diesel €1.31.9)

Inver at Rathass – €1.41.9 – (Diesel €1.31.9)

Topaz at Manor West – €1.41.9 (Diesel €1.31.9)

Texaco at Blennerville – €1.41.9 (Diesel €1.31.9)

5. Texaco at Oakpark Road –  €1.42.9 (Diesel €1.32.9)
