MORE of this please.

If the last ten minutes of last night’s game proved anything, it’s that Austin Stack Park is the only place for Kerry’s Allianz National League games.

The official attendance was 11,117 but you can add at least another 1,000 to that judging by the number of children and young teenagers present and they all created some din as Kerry’s late, late show secured the points under lights.

In the past ten years, I can’t recall Austin Stack Park looking as full as it did last night, even for those epic Dublin games in 2017 and 2019 and while Fitzgerald Stadium is the venue for championship home ties, it can’t compare to Tralee for league game atmosphere.

Kerry forward Paul Geaney tweeted last night; “Love the atmosphere Austin Stack Park brings under lights! Great win at the death, the support was immense at the end.”

He wasn’t wrong and the eardrum-worrying roars that greeted his goal and Killian Spillane’s winning point were moments to savour in the nascent stages of Kerry’s season.

The Galway fans played their part in the occasion — in full voice when they believed they were in for another win at the Tralee venue — but it was the Kerry fans who were the happier heading into the town’s pubs to mull over the Kingdom’s performance.

And the rain held off too, so what more could you ask for! The next game in Tralee for Peter Keane’s charges is on Sunday, March 22, against Donegal and we can expect another amazing atmosphere in the county capital. Scroll down for photos…
