LIXNAW and Kilmoyley battled it out yesterday in the county senior hurling final and it was a tense affair.
Deep into injury-time Kilmoyley were two points down but were awarded a penalty. However, the penalty was saved and the referee immediately blew his whistle for full-time before a Kilmoyley player scored on the rebound.
Cue scenes of delirium among Lixnaw players and fury from some Kilmoyley players. The referee was surrounded and there was much shouting and jostling before the situation was calmed.
Meanwhile, a person took ill in the stands while all this was going on and they had to be taken to University Hospital Kerry.
The Lixnaw players celebrated their victory and Darragh Shanahan accepted the Neilus Flynn Cup to great cheers from the supporters. We took some photos on the day…
