KERRY GAA stars from all codes were honoured at the Kerry GAA Supporters Club social in the Ballygarry House Hotel on Saturday night.
A crowd of around 200 loyal GAA supporters reviewed the year gone by and speculated on Kerry’s chances for 2016 in the company of the football and hurling All-Stars.
There were presentations to the Christy Ring Cup winning captain, John Griffin, the hurling All-Stars Shane Nolan, John Egan, Pa Kelly and Keith Carmody, the football All-Stars Anthony Maher, Donnchadh Walsh, Shane Enright, and Brendan Kealy, the Minor B Hurling All-Ireland winning captain John Buckley and manager Ian Brick, the All-Ireland Junior Football winning captain Alan O’Donoghue and manager Stephen Wallace and the All-Ireland Minor Football winning captain Mark O’Connor and manager Jack O’Connor.
Not a bad year for Kerry GAA and the Supporters Club were there every step of the way at most of the games.
“We’re growing and growing, this is our 26th social,” said the Supporters Club’s PRO, Martin Leane. “There’s a lot of organisation involved in getting buses to the games, but the response from the public is tremendous. We go on time and come back on time – that’s our slogan! We’re on the road again in a week’s time, off to Dublin, where we hope to have two buses going.”
And what of Kerry senior footballers chances for 2016?
“It’s early days yet and there’s a lot of injuries and players to come back in form but they’ll be in the make-up at the end of the day,” said Martin.
A few more trips to Croke Park later in the year then?
“Hopefully,” said he with a wry smile.
