THERE was some amazing lip syncing performances at a night to mark the Tralee premiere of a new short film made by four local women.
‘Silence Is Golden — From Birth To Death’ is a short film made by Stormm Productions which is made up of four women, Miriam Moriarty Owens, Selina Switzer, Rebecca Kemp and Mary Tuohy around the theme of domestic violence and a good crowd turned up to support the project on Friday in the Ballyroe Heights Hotel.
The night started with a solemn performance by the ladies who made the film along with the contestants in the ‘Lippy Sing’ event that came after the screening.

The night was MC’d by Brian Hurley, and the lip syncing competition featured a number of acts including Cllr Toireasa Ferris, followed by a disco.
Judges were famed beauty expert Mary O’Donnell, Helena Slattery from ADAPT, stylist Danny Leane and businesswoman Breeda Hurley. In the end Fiona Griffin won the public vote for her performance of ‘It’s Raining Men’ and Marian O’Dowd won the judges vote.
The ten minute long film, ‘Silence Is Golden — From Birth To Death’ is about the reality of domestic violence and how it can affect anyone at any time of life – from birth to death. Although dramatised, the film is based on actual stories the women have heard from other people.
The film was made in association with EagleSky Media with sound from GEM Audio Solutions and it’s hoped the film will encourage anybody who is in a domestic abuse situation to seek help. The movie has been shown at the Dingle Film Festival and will be shown at a Dublin event on June 12. Scroll down for photos…
