THERE was standing room only at the Ballyroe Heights Hotel last night for the Ardfert NS Strictly Come Dancing event.
After many weeks of practicing under choreographer Joe Burkett, the hard work paid off as the 12 couples took to the floor to show off their moves. Radio Kerry’s Francis Jones was a great MC for the night and the couples didn’t disappoint their many supporters in the audience.
In the end though, there had to be winners and Michael Leen and Gillian Dowling jived their way to swinging the People’s Vote.
The Judges, which included DJ Gavin O’Leary and ‘The Voice of Ireland’ vocal coach, Elaine Canning had their work cut out for them, but in the end their winners were Bernice O’Sullivan and Denis Foley whose Cha-Cha really impressed.
It was such a success, organisers are hoping to make it an annual event and who would blame them after attracting so many people to Ballyroe?
All proceeds raised from the event, organised by the Ardfert NS Parents Association, will go towards subsidising swimming lessons for pupils. Scroll down for a short video and many photos below (we’ll have many more tomorrow)…
