THERE were some fabulous paintings on display at the first day of a new initiative from Tralee Chamber Alliance on Saturday.
Artists from all over the county were invited to sign up for the initiative which will see them put their work on the railings of the town park on Denny Street on every Saturday during the summer.
The first day was a huge success and everyone agreed it was a fantastic addition to the already beautiful looking part of the town.

Mary Greene, the Arts Officer with Tralee Chamber Alliance, has put a lot of work into the initiative and she was delighted with the first day.
“The artists are from all over the county and beyond. We have around 30 registered to take part but people can still sign up for it. It’s on from June to the end of August but we’re looking at putting it on for Culture Night, during Heritage Week and the Sunday of Féile na mBláth,” she said.
Aidan Kelly was delighted to see the initiative come to fruition.
“It’s great to encourage local artists which is the most important thing really. For our visitors and local people it’s great to be able to show the paintings on the railings on such an historic street,” he said.
Local artist Mikel brought a real townie element to the display with his portraits of Christy McCarthy, Willie Seeler and James O’Brien while other artists had landscapes, interpretations of classic works of art and some stunning originals. Scroll down for photos…
Love it!
Tralee town parks railings on Denny Street was so cultural today.
There was a great artistic buzz and the wonderful Artists were quite intergenerational, a good blend of youthfulness with maturity.
The artworks on display were just as creative, talented and diverse as what is on display on St Stephens Green railings in Dublin.
Tralee is looking all the better for it!
