PHOTOS: Austin Stacks Beat Ballymac To Win Town Board League Final

THE Austin Stacks senior team secured their first silverware of the season when they beat Ballymac last night in the Tralee Town Board League Final.

Played under lights at Austin Stack Park, the Rockies proved too strong and clinical for Ballymac team running out 1-18 to 0-10 winners and captain Conor Jordan accepted the John Kissane Memorial Cup from Sean Kissane.

Ballymac opened the scoring with a point after four minutes but that was the only time they led in the game.

Stacks were up 0-6 to 0-2 after 13 minutes and despite Ballymac bringing it back to a two point gap two minutes later, the town side pulled away again and led 0-12 to 0-7 at the short whistle.

From then on Ballymac were never able to get closer than four points to the leaders and good defending stifled many of their chances. Stacks pulled away in the last quarter and the final nail in the coffin was a Fergal Ryan goal on 55 minutes to make it 1-16 to 0-9.

Stacks pegged on a couple of more scores to Ballymac’s one before referee Paul Hayes brought proceedings to a close. Scroll down for photos…
