IT’S been a big week for Ballymac kids as they took their first steps on the education ladder.
Both Scoil Nuachabháil and O’Brennan NS welcomed the new junior infants classes and it all went smoothly for the teachers and pupils.
“They all settled in really well,” said Marcella Murphy, Junior Infants teacher at Scoil Nuachabháil who welcomed 10 boys and girls to the school on Wednesday morning.
“There were no tears and the parents were relaxed too. The children have already been to preschool which helps, they all know each other and many have siblings in the school,” said Marcella.
It was a similar story over in Kielduff as O’Brennan NS pupils started back again on Thursday.
“It was very exciting,” said teacher Ms Michelle O’Brien. “It’s my first year here as well so I was in the same boat so to speak,” said Michelle, who previously taught in Wexford.
“There was great excitement and all the kids settled in really quickly. They’re having a ball now. There were a few tears at the start, but once the parents went away, everyone settled down,” she said.
A great journey begins…
