WHILE the county has gone green and gold crazy over the past couple of weeks, we came across a smattering of blue on our travels yesterday.

Kerry jersey day was in full swing at Caherleaheen NS and two ladies in particular were enjoying the fun.

Catherine Buckley and Nuala Murphy are both from Dublin but are working in Caherleaheen as a teacher and teaching assistant respectively.

“I’ve been supporting Dublin all my life and I’m looking forward to Sunday, but I don’t have a ticket. I’ve been enjoying the banter between the teachers and my sixth class pupils,” said Catherine, whose mother is from Kerry.

Nuala, originally from Castleknock, has managed to get a ticket for the game and can’t wait.

“It’s been great all week. The kids don’t like it when I wear my Dublin jersey, I usually bring the flags as well and I’ve been known to paint the windows! I’m looking forward to the game. It’s exciting but I’m nervous at the same time as my friends say Kerry are waiting in the long grass,” said Nuala.

Over in Spa NS, there’s a bit of divided loyalties among the Gilligan boys attending the school. Dad Colm is a Dub and while two of his boys are Blues, he hasn’t managed to convert the third which will make his household interesting tomorrow!
